Tamezin Media Trust was created in 2011 by Tamezin Club, a youth group for young women in Chelsea following a survey of young women’s interests that was conducted by the club. The survey found that young women aged 14-19 wanted to read a decent magazine with articles that interest women who are thinking about their future.
The core philosophy of the Tamezin Media Trust is to engage with notions of making positive changes in the community through focusing on what young women are looking for: thinking about careers, developing their skills and pursuing personal interests
The charity fulfils a vital role in providing young women and girls with opportunities to gain employable skills, knowledge, resilience, and confidence. Through our activities they flourish personally, contribute and make positive changes in their communities.
Through our activities we promote ideals, such as a deepening of cultural experience, seeking knowledge, truth and dialogue. We aim to imbue all our activities with an appreciation of the concepts of beauty, and to inspire young people with ambition and concern for their civic responsibility.
In all our undertakings we seek high standards of personal integrity, professionalism and teamwork. We endeavour to foster understanding, tolerance and respect for the individual.
We help young people
Most of the participants in our projects are young women aged between 14 and 18 from a wide range of backgrounds. Our projects started in London but we wish to offer them further afield.
Workshops in Journalism
Through the t!journalism project we offer a collection of journalism courses run by professionals giving insight into the workings and power of the media.
Workshops in Schools
Tamezin Media Trust also offers workshops in schools for years 9 upwards on Fashion Journalism as well as PSHE sessions for girls on Fashion and Style.
Through the t!magazine project we give young people opportunities to work with professionals in the media world. Participants gain personal and professional skills through all stages of producing a magazine for young women.
Tamezin Media offers internships to students and recently qualified graduates. Internships of either 3 months or 6 months duration provide valuable work experience and skills that are beneficial to those looking to build up their CV for future job prospects.
